Hopworks Urban Brewery, is turning two and they have much to celebrate. Besides being one of the first organic from-the-beginning breweries in Oregon, the brewery and restaurant  have demonstrated sustainable practices through their decorations and their menu.

Whenever we are in Portland we have made the bar a must stop into sample the newest and returning brews. If you time it right you might find Brewer / Owner Christian Ettinger, checking on the fermenters or grabbing a bite in the restaurant. Here is what the crew had to say regarding Hopworks’ accomplishment…

Hopworks turns Two! It’s been an amazing 2nd year and to thank you, all our friends and patrons for helping us keep Portland beered, we’ll be offering our killer Happy Hour menu in the bar and $2 pints of delicious organic beer throughout the restaurant… All Day Long! In addition we’ll be giving everyone the employee pricing on all merchandise, so if there’s a shirt you’ve had your eye on, now’s the time to get it at 20%.

In just two years, our pub crew grew from 45 to 70 HUBSTERS. The brewery produced more than 1.1 million pints of beer in 2009 and debuted some fantastic new seasonals, leading to 2 Gold Medals for Organic Ace of Spades Imperial IPA and Organic Rise Up Red at the Great American Beer Fest.

To accommodate the growth in our brewery, we’ve added two new fermenters allow us to bring tasty organic beer to thirsty souls throughout Oregon, Washington and soon British Columbia. And we couldn’t have done any of this without your support.

This year also saw the launch of our first BiKETOBEERFEST, with 3,200 attendees on bikes enjoying fresh hop beers, bike builders, live music, performers and the one and only Hopworks/Metrofiets Barbike. BiKETOBEERFEST will return to Hopworks on August 28, so mark your calendars now.

Bring the family, gather your friends and help us celebrate the end of our second year and ring in a third of proudly serving some of the tastiest organic beer in town!

Cheers!

Christian and Crew

About Hopworks Urban Brewery

HUB is Portland’s first Eco-Brewpub to offer all organic handcrafted beers, fresh local ingredients, and a sustainable building with a relaxed and casual atmosphere. Brewmaster Christian Ettinger has spent the past year and half constructing his “dream brewpub.“  HUB incorporates all aspects of sustainability.  From composting to rain barrels, and from pervious pavers to hand dryers, we have made every effort to protect “our“ future with a thoughtful alternative.  Hopworks has four distinct areas including a family friendly restaurant with play area, a vibrant bicycle bar, banquet mezzanine, and outdoor beer-garden.  Our 20 barrel brewery produces 4500 barrels a year and provides our restaurant with ten different HUB organic beers on tap and two cask ales at all times. We have parking for seventy cars, eight motorcycles and up to fifty bikes.  Our world-class beer, New York style pizza, and wonderful staff are some of the best you will find anywhere. –source, Hopworks Urban Brewery
