(WA) Cascade Brewers Guild’s ExBEERience at Redhook Brewing, 3/13 to benefit the Childhaven Charity

logo of the Cascade Brewers Guild courtesy of their website Woodinville, WA – While your sipping on that pint of ale or lager, consider this, more than likely that brewer was once a homebrewer. Homebrewers much like cooks, carpenters, mechanics, and electricians, once got their starts at home. Much like their baking cousins, they work in grain to produce something that reminds them of that favorite “meal”.

Last year we had the pleasure of participating as a guest at this event and it was a lot of fun. Featured on top of local breweries, were a select set of homebrewer’s. What made this event unique was the finale in which the Guild through recognition handed out awards to those deserving.

The 4th annual ExBEERience  will be held on Saturday, March 13, 2010 at Redhook Brewing Company in Woodinville from noon to 4 PM.  The event, sponsored by the Cascade Brewers Guild home brewing club, will feature commercial brewers, home brew samples, food, and the recognition of award winners from both the 2010 Cascade Brewers Cup home brewing competition and the annual awards from the Washington Homebrewers Association.  Brewers scheduled to pour at the event are Alaskan Brewing, Baron/3 Skulls, Big Al, Black Raven, Firestone Walker, Fremont Brewing, Georgetown, Issaquah Brewhouse, Kona, Lazy Boy, Odin, Powerhouse, Redhook, Trade Route and Widmer.  Proceeds benefit Childhaven, a non-profit to benefit abused and neglected children. –source, Jeff Rea of Cascade Brewer’s Guild

It only costs you $20 in advance and $25 at the door, which gets you lunch, nine (9) beer tokens and a tasting glass. And if you spend the entire four hours there, you are welcome to purchase more tokens from the desk, with cash in hand or from the ATM (which is onsite). For more information or to purchase advance tickets, visit Brown Paper ticket’s site.

About Cascade Brewers Guild

Who is the CBG?

We're a medium-sized club based on the eastside of Seattle, with members who live and work all over greater Seattle and the Puget Sound. Engineers, students, teachers, beer industry slaves, salesmen, pastors, tech geeks--we're a diverse bunch. Our brewing experience is just as varied, with members ranging from those who'll soon brew their first batch through basic extract brewers, partial mashers, all-grain brewers, RIMS, decoction brewers, and national contest winners.

Great breweries surround us in the Pacific Northwest, along with the world's hop beds in the Yakima and Willamette valleys. Combine that with a widely established tradition of homebrewing, and there's no shortage of fellow homebrewers and beer freaks nearby. We hold friendly competitions against one another on a bi-annual basis, and even more often, we just get together to hang out and raise a glass.

No city in the western hemisphere brews more barrels than Seattle, and no city in the hemisphere has more breweries than Portland. We're lucky to have them close by. We tour the breweries as often as we can (usually a half dozen tours a year, almost always combined with a regular monthly meeting). There's no shortage of fine public houses, either, and we've been known to gather for a close inspection of their offerings, without so much as a club meeting to bring us together. All of this exposure to some of the best beers in the world makes us better, more informed brewers--and certainly holds us to a high standard.  [more] –source, Cascade Brewers Guild
