For the people of Kent’s Airways Brewing Company the idea of opening a brewery was a gamble, given the tenuous nature of making a profit while meeting expenses. Some would say that opening a brewery is a financial idiocy from the cost of materials (hops, malt, stainless steel kegs, etc.) to the cost of maintaining a brewery location, you are never without cost. But for Airways Brewing the risk so far has paid off through sales of the beer at various pubs and from their tasting room.

We are happy to announce this coming June’s a new Airways Brewing Co. opening in the Downtown Historic District of Kent.

As it will be called, Airways Brewing Company Beer & Bistro will feature a full food menu, as well as an extensive tap beer lineup.

Also with the opening of the Downtown Kent location comes the announcement that the current brewery site (and taproom) will be moving into their next door neighbors space and grow from 1,200 to 2,400 square feet. Through the expansion Airways will gain a 10 barrel brew house and an even larger taproom. So far the current schedule from knocking the wall down to completion is looking like April for the taproom, with the brewery starting their first batch this summer.

“We planned this expansion from the beginning, so it’s exciting to see it become reality,” said Alex Dittmar, the company’s founder and brewer. “The larger brewing system and expanded tap room at our current location will help us more efficiently serve our customers and allow us to introduce some new special beers.

“We are equally excited to announce our second location in the Downtown Kent Historic District. Being Kent’s Brewery, we knew we eventually wanted to end up downtown. It took us about six months to find the right place, and we think people will really enjoy the location, as well as what we’ll have to offer.

Congratulations Alex and Company. It’s nice to see your guys’ hard work is finally paying off.
