Once again lupulin lovers can rejoice, because Hopefest is back. Hosted at Brouwer's Cafe (400 N 35th St  Seattle, WA 98103), Hopfest is a celebration of all things hopped. Unfortunately for the non-IPA crowd this means celebrating an event where the words IPA, Double IPA, Imperial IPA, or Triple IPA, are spoken with fervent enthusiasm.

Thankfully Manager Nat Pellman was kind enough to not only provide a current list of what is in store for you.

Breaking up the list this writer has broken the beer into styles (ie IPA, Imperial or Double IPA, Triple IPA, etc.) and also rarity. Although some of these beers are readily available on shelves or occasionally, it’s worth trying on draft again.

India Pale Ale

• Dogfish Head 90 Minute India Pale Ale. 90 Minute IPA was the first beer we continuously hopped, allowing for a pungent -- but not crushing -- hop flavor. Since introducing the world to the continuous-hopping method with our 90 Minute IPA, we've since released the continuously hopped 60 Minute IPA , 120 Minute IPA and even a 75 Minute IPA (a cask-conditioned blend of 60 and 90 Minute IPAs).
• Flyers Afterburner India Pale Ale. Afterburner I.P.A.6.0% abv A hop lover's delight! Our I.P.A. is loaded from start to finish with five hop additions and balanced by English and German malts.
• Icicle Bootjack India Pale Ale. This ‘Northwest Classic’ is a harmonious blend of our pride and our passion inspired by the rugged and gentle terrain of the Cascade Mountains. Starting with the pristine waters of Icicle Creek, we add the intense flavors and aromas of our locally grown Yakima hops, pairing the citrusy floral hop notes with a sweet-malty undertone. It’s an IPA that’s breaking the barrier between bitter and bold.

• New Belgium La terrior. Le Terroir is a french term meaning “of the earth." Used to reference the environmental conditions that affect the brew, we like to think about the terroir of our foeders. These wooden barrels age our sour beer in varying temperatures, humidity, and vibrations. The terroir of New Belgium, so to speak. Add in another variable by dry-hopping with peachy, mango-like Amarillo hops, and we created a beer that changes every time we brew it.

Imperial / Double India Pale Ale

• Boundary Bay Imperial India Pale Ale. A full-bodied, copper India Pale Ale. Fairly strong alcohol content and an aggressive fresh hop quality. Original Gravity 1.084
• Black Raven Wisdom Seeker Imperial India Pale Ale. Folklore and mythology present the raven as an omniscient creature with special powers and abilities. The Wisdom Seeker Double IPA gets its special powers from an enormous amount of hops and malted barley. Brewed in the West coast Double IPA style, this bold brew features massive citrus and herbal hop additions and a full hop aroma. Seek your wisdom cautiously; this hop feast packs a punch.
• Epic Brewing Imperial India Pale Ale. This beer is the epitome of Epic’s IPAs. This hard hitting brew manages to pack a punch while still providing that fantastically complex IPA flavor. Slightly floral aromas hit the nose while resinous flavors dominate the body, finishing with the ideal palate cleansing bitterness.
• Firestone Walker Double Jack Imperial India Pale Ale. Double Jack IPA is our first ever Imperial IPA. It features a big malty middle to cloak the high alcohol and mouth puckering hop bitterness. Huge tangerine, grapefruit and juicy fruit aroma blossom over the herbal blue basil and malt earthiness of this aggressive beer. Best enjoyed in moderation.
• Hopworks Urban Brewpub (HUB) Ace of Spades Imperial India Pale Ale. Brewed with 195 pounds of Amarillo, Cascade and Centennial hops, this hopped-out beast had hops added at every point; mash tun, first wort, kettle, and dry hop. Huge spicy and citrus hop aroma, flavor and deep bitterness with an alcoholic bites. I see it in your eyes, take one drink and die, the only thing you see, you know it’s gonna be, The Ace Of Spades! 9.2% ABV 21.5 Deg Plato 100+ IBU
• Lagunitas Maximus Double India Pale Ale. Originally made in 1996(and continuously) to be a bigger, badder version of our favorite style.
• Port Brewing Hop 15 Double India Pale Ale. Hop 15 has 15 different hop varieties added to the beer every 15 minutes. Over the years, Hop 15 has racked up numerous accolades. It has won a bronze medal in Imperial or Double India Pale Ale at the Great American Beer Festival. It also was named Alpha King Winner in 2004 and 2008, and received a first place award at the Bistro Double IPA beer festival in Hayward, CA. Hop 15 remains won of the stickiest most resinous beers we have ever tasted and for that, we are thankful it is on tap at our brewery each and every day.
• Silver City Whoop Ass Double India Pale Ale. Without a doubt the hoppiest mother of a brew we have ever created. More than 50 lbs. of Washington State Cascade and Columbus hops are infused, injected, or otherwise inflicted upon a single batch. Welcome to hop country! 9% ABV
• Sierra Nevada Hoptimum Imperial India Pale Ale. Hoptimum is a hurricane of whole-cone hop flavor. Hopped, dry hopped and torpedoed for incredible hop flavor and complexity, Hoptimum is the pinnacle of whole-cone hoppiness and the biggest Imperial IPA we have ever produced. It features resinous hop varieties: Magnum, Chinook, Simcoe and a new experimental hop variety exclusive to Sierra Nevada. With intense hop flavors and aromas of grapefruit rind, pine, herbs and tropical fruit, Hoptimum is an aggressive drinking experience. Triple India Pale Ale

• Green Flash Green Bullet Triple India Pale Ale. Named after a super-robust New Zealand hop, Green Bullet™ is a well-balanced Triple IPA being bottled today for the 1st time ever. Brewmaster, Chuck Silva initially released this Pacific Gem to celebrate the Green Flash 9th Anniversary in 2011, and it was an immediate hit! Now, this cult favorite will be available from coast-to-coast as a seasonal release from September through December 2013. Be on the lookout for this high-caliber addition to our arsenal in 4-packs, 22oz bottles and on draft, because you do not want to miss the release.

Specialty / Rare – Pale Ale

• pFriem Single Hop Ale *Mosaic. Deep within the arid climate of Washington’s Yakima Valley grows the Mosaic Hop, a newcomer that makes its debut in our pFriem Mosaic Single Hop Pale. This strong ale glows with an amber hue. Wafts of mango and citrus tease the senses just long enough before its assertive taste takes over with hits of lemon, pine and a slight tinge of blueberry. • 10 Barrel S.A.M. India Pale Ale. Named after the hops used in creating our newest IPA Simcoe, Amarillo, Mosaics. Aromas of pine, tropical spice, grapefruit and lime fill the glass. This is a beer for the true IPA enthusiast
• Almanac Fresh Hop Cascade. California once overflowed with hop fields (ie, Hopland, CA). Today, all of those hops have long been replaced by grapes—but small farm hops are making a comeback, thanks to farmers like Marty and Claudia Kuchinski at Hops-Meister Hop Farm in Clearlake, California. Tall spires of hops reach for the sky and the air is fragrant with sweet hop aromas. We selected freshly picked Cascade, Chinook and Cluster hops to provide a delicate herbal character to our brews, and a uniquely California terroir to the aromas.

• Kulshan Imperial India Pale Ale. This bigger, bolder India Pale Ale was created by Head Brewer Tom Eastwood and his brother Dan. The rich golden-colored ale has a resiney, citrusy hop aroma with toasted malt accents. Double Brother’s flavor is a balance between the complex malt blend and assertive Northwest hop bitterness and flavor. It finishes dry.
• New Belgium Ranger India Pale Ale *Dry-hopped **Firkin. Bring out the hops! This clear amber beauty bursts at the starting gate with an abundance of hops: Cascade (citrus), Chinook (floral/citrus), and Simcoe (fruity) lead off the beer, with Cascade added again for an intense dry hop flavor. Brewed with pale and dark caramel malts that harmonize the hop flavor from start to finish, Ranger is a sessionable splendor for all you hopinistas. Thank your Beer Ranger!

Specialty / Rare Double - Imperial India Pale Ale

• 10 Barrel Dub Imperial India Pale Ale. Kelso unloaded the hop cooler on this beer. It comes in at a little over 10.5 pounds of hops per barrel, and is off the IBU charts. This beer is NOT balanced, and was NOT intended to be, and will never be balanced. Seriously, if you don't like hops, this beer might possibly ruin your day.

• De Proefbrouwerij Omnipollo Nebuchadnezzar. “Neb” is a home brew recipe that has been scaled up with no consideration to economies of scale. • Evil Twin Yang Imperial India Pale Ale. This is one half of a Black and Tan. Not just any Black and Tan, but the one where a toasted smug and a hoppy fella get together to make a sublime Taiji balance. Mix the Yang & Yin together (or enjoy this flipping good Imperial IPA solo).
• Fort George Omegatex. Inspired by the tried and true Vortex IPA, but bigger, hoppier and just as balanced as the Vortex that Fort George drinkers have been keen to since the brewery was almost scattered in a corn field.  The brewers at Fort George were making A LOT of Vortex, but just felt like it needed more umph.  After a rather strong early batch of Vortex in the pub, the regulars agreed, but this was not for the full pint.  This beer is not for everyone, but surely hoppy and big enough for many in the Pacific Northwest. • 7 Seas Prophet Wet Hop Ale. Come late August and early September, the abundant hop cones swarming the Yakima valley reach their fruition. Wet, saturated, and dripping with essential oils and resins, they are ready for harvest. Once a year, we are presented an opportunity to brew Hop Prophet, a 'wet' hop ale utilizing Amarillo and Centennial varieties that go from 'vine' to 'kettle' within hours. Exclusively brewed with wet hops at a rate of over 7 LBS per BBL (31gal) of beer, the Hop Prophet yields an aroma of fresh citrus zest followed by a delicate, yet pronounced juicy bitterness. A blend of domestic Pale Ale malt, British Marris Otter malt, and a touch of crystal malt, contribute a clean, off-dry mouthfeel with subtle notes of honey and melon fruit. With benevolence, good-will, and transcendence, the Hop Prophet bestows his almighty powers towards a successful harvest and his grace towards the hard working individuals toiling amongst the sun and soil of our treasured hop growing regions of Washington State.
