Golden Gardens and Alki beach won’t be the only places to hit the sand this summer.  Stoup Brewing  in Ballard is teaming up with  Sandbol  to host a beach party at Stoup's tap room and beer garden this August. Sand will be brought in to fill a 12’ x 35’ court for Sandbol play, along with a DJ spinning, food trucks, ice cream and swag prizes for lucky winners.

Sandbol is a new to-the-world beach game started by Ballard resident, Mitch Tennison. He describes the game as “cornhole meets bocce ball meets horseshoes” designed with the sand in mind. “I saw an opportunity to design a game that could leverage the uneven terrain of sandy beaches, be highly portable and bring people together," states Tennison. "We want people to rediscover the beach in an exciting new way.” His goal is to raise awareness and gain excitement around the gaming prototypes before officially launching the product next summer.

Stoup’s philosophy of being a convivial place for friends to come together suits the game well, as Sandbol is an amiable competition. And since the sport is best played with a cold beverage in hand, a local craft brewery seemed the perfect partner. "We couldn't resist the idea," says Stoup Founder, Brad Benson. "Why would we say no to this much summer fun right here?"

The Stoup Brewing x Sandbol beach party will be at Stoup Brewing ( 1108 NW 52nd St) on Saturday, August 6 th from  2 – 8pm and Sunday, August 7 th from  12 – 4pm.  In addition to the aforementioned treats, expect to find  Napkin Friends out front  on SaturdayAnchor End Pretzel Shoppe  on Sunday & ice cream from  Balleywood Creamery on both afternoons.
