For your Springtime consideration, Wayfinder Beer's Clovenbock

The month of May has almost concluded but that hasn't stopped Portland's Wayfinder Beer from releasing their loyal interpretation of the traditional Maibock.

Sometimes called Hller Bock, the Maibock originated in the German village of Einbock. After a couple of centuries, the brewers of Bavaria acquainted themselves with this style. As the beer grew in popularity the Bavarian name of the beer evolved from Einbock, the name of the town where the beer originated, into the mispronounced "ein Bock" or "a billygoat". This ladies and gentlemen is where we get our association with that lovable bearded sheep, the Goat. A little known side fact, often this beer was released (coincidentally or not) during the Christian period of fasting.

Now on draft at the brewery, this is what the brewers had to say about this traditional German-style beer.

When springtime arrives, the newly-flowered beers of winter shake off their sleep youth in an attempt to summon newly-acquired maturity. Thusly, we celebrate this may-pole laden time with a salacious Cheers! to the cloven-footed fauna and his reeden flute that he may prod our inhibitions towards goatish delights. Clovenbock is a strong, Maibock light-amber lager made for spring.

At 7.0% ABV and 25 IBU, this beer is no lawnmower beer. Instead, consider this a beer to enjoy best during a backyard barbecue, a casual bonfire with friends, or as a toast to lengthening days and light clothing.

Wayfinder Beer is located 304 SE 2nd Ave in Portland, OR. For more information about Wayfinder including menus and hours, visit https://www.wayfinder.beer/.
