SEATTLE, WA ... To find the best beer in American beer, over 800 breweries were analyzed and the results combined with an online poll to determine the top breweries in each state. The complete list is available online. List of America’s best breweries.

There are more than 4000 breweries in all corners of America, ranging in size from Anheuser­Busch’s 142­acre megacomplex in St. Louis, MO which makes million of barrels of beer every year to locally­owned microbreweries. With more breweries opening every day and the desire for more delicious and interesting beer on the rise, inquiring minds want to know … what are the best breweries in America?

Using historical data from 3 major beer competitions, 2 online beer rating websites, the results of an extensive online poll and countless ground truthing samples, the best breweries in America have been determined through a combination of beer judging experts, public opinion and math.

They combed through bushels of beer data to curate a list of each state’s top breweries. Then augmented the results with time tested American voting in order to select the three best breweries in every state. With the addition of 3 breweries from Washington, D.C. and 3 extra from California (because of its general brewery dominance) 156 American breweries stood out above the rest of the crowd.

From the vast expanses of Alaska’s wild north to the tropical beaches of Hawaii; from the high alpine, snow­capped peaks of New England to the sun drenched, low lying lands of the Deep South, a diverse selection of quality American breweries saturate the USA.

Is a seasonal brew from 49th State Brewing Company (Healy,AK) different from one at Wynwood Brewing Company (Miami, FL)? Could the IPAs at Maine Beer Company (Freeport, ME) possibly vary from ones at Ballast Point Brewing Company (San Diego,CA)? Would the Pub Ale from the middle of our country at Tallgrass Brewing Company (Manhattan, KS) define American beer, or is it a starting point to embrace the variety of styles and tastes?
