... Bellingham, Washington — During the month of October participating local breweries will be sponsoring a Survival Drive forNorthwest Youth Services. The drive will help young people experiencing homelessness during winter months receive necessary survival items such as tents, sleeping bags, warm clothing, and food.

On Tuesday, October 4, each participating brewery will kick off the month-long drive with a “Drink Out” fundraising event: 10 percent of drink sales for that day will benefit Northwest Youth Services’ Detour Street Outreach Program.

Northwest Youth Services provides housing and wrap-around support services to young people age 13 to 24 in Whatcom and Skagit County. The nonprofit’s mission is to collaborate with at-risk, runaway, and homeless youth to foster self-reliance. Their vision is that all young people have a place to belong: to be safe, heard, and valued.

Outdoor gear is “leisure gear” for some – but for young people sleeping outside, it is essential for survival. Help homeless youth stay warm this winter by donating in-demand items to Northwest Youth Services during October Survival Drive.
