Our Convergence Series of special brewery night community fundraising events on the last Wednesday of every month continues with Gig Harbor's Wet Coast Brewing Company. Along with their superbly crafted beers and some special pairings from our talented chefs, we'll be raising money for the outstanding Medic One Foundation.
Bryan Copeland (Head Brewer) and Aaron Johnson, Co-Owners currently work at West Pierce Fire & Rescue, as Firefighter/EMTs. They have been coworkers at the department for about 14 years, and began home brewing together shortly after meeting each other. They would each collect their brewing equipment and brew at the other persons house about every other week, experimenting with new recipes and perfecting favorites. It didn’t take long before they began discussing the idea of opening a microbrewery in Gig Harbor, and providing a variety of small-batch ales to the local beer enthusiast. They opened Wet Coast Brewing Company in June of 2015, and have since began bottling and grown their brewhouse from a 3.5bbl system to a 15bbl system. Bryan and Aaron still work on the same shift at the fire department, and even occasionally find themselves assigned to the same fire engine.
Alexis Curran, Watershed co-owner Ben Curran’s sister, suffered an unexpected cardiac arrest in 2012 while training for a marathon. She was saved by members of the Seattle Fire Department including paramedics with the Medic One program. So grateful for the world class life saving work that Medic One provides to all of us in the Puget Sound region, Alexis is now serving on the Medic One Foundation Board. Please come and support the Foundation and their work to support Medic One. Watershed Pub & Kitchen will be donating $1 for every Wet Coast beer purchased during the event to Medic One Foundation.
