Cariboo Brewing is celebrating Spring old school with the introduction of “Stubby” bottles of Cariboo Genuine Draft.

The short, chubby bottles were widely used by brewers all across Canada almost exclusively from 1962 to 1986 but were eventually replaced by longneck bottles. Cariboo Brewing is re-introducing a special release of retro bottles in 6-packs at ~$10.99 as a tribute to this bygone era.

“Cariboo beer fans know we like to have a little irreverent fun every chance we get,” said Paul Mulgrew, Brand Manager for Cariboo. “We love mixing it up and thought we’d give Cariboo lovers a little something different this Spring as a thank you for all their support for our “refresh and reforest” program.”

Cariboo Brewing has teamed up with the Province’s “Forests for Tomorrow” program to plant 150,000 trees in the Cariboo region over three years to replace those lost to forest fire and pine beetle. They started with 50,000 trees in 2010 and will plant the 100,000th tree later this Spring.

In celebration of Earth Week, Cariboo Brewing will also launch “Refresh and Reforest Week” on Wednesday, April 20 at Third Art Gallery, 434 Homer Street at 8 p.m. along with swag give-aways, preview stubbys, sampling and other shenanigans.

Later this Spring on June 18, Cariboo will sponsor the only BC 2011 appearance of “House of Pain” in Prince George at CN Center. One lucky Cariboo fan will win a deluxe prize package, including trip for two, accommodations and VIP tickets – details available at www.cariboobrewing.com or www.pwbrewing.com or pick-up an entry form at participating beer and wine stores throughout B.C. Tickets are also available at Ticketmaster.

Cariboo Brewing proudly brews Cariboo Genuine Draft, Cariboo Honey Lager and new Cariboo Cream Ale – all created locally at its Prince George brewery and enjoyed by beer lovers throughout beautiful B.C.
