Coinciding with the final Timbers away match of the year, Lompoc Brewing releases "Pride of Cascadia" - a Pro-Am recipe from winner Ross Quenzer.

The history of the Timbers Army Duane Graf Memorial Homebrew Competition dates back to 2010, when the Oregon Department of Justice declared homebrew competitions illegal. A few bold brewers of the Timbers Army brought their homebrew to a tailgate and held a People’s Choice competition. In 2011, the Portland Timbers joined the MLS and the Oregon Legislature re-legalized homebrew competitions; the Timbers Army Homebrew Competition became official. In 2013, longtime Timbers Army member Duane Graf was tragically killed in an auto accident; as Graf was a homebrewer, the Timbers Army chose to rename the competition in his memory.

Two Sundays from now, Lompoc Brewing will release "Citra Down Pale Ale", a collaboration between head brewer Bryan Kelty and winning home brewer, and Timbers Army member Ross Quenzer.

Brewed with Cascade and Citra hops, Citra Down has globular orange color accented by notes of citrus and pine. At 5%, ABV, the beer is sessionable and will fit in during the 4:30 Timbers match in Kansas City against Sporting Kansas City.

This year marked the 10th annual competition, and the 5th under the Duane Graf moniker. Lompoc Brewing has produced a full batch of the winning recipe every year since the competition began.
