Celebrating their 50th year in Mount Vernon, Skagit Valley Food Co-Op collaborates with four local breweries to release CoHop Anniversary Ale.

In historic Downtown Mount Vernon, the Skagit Valley Food Co-Op has been providing a unique, grocery, shopping experience since 1973. With a focus on naturally grown foods, and a focus on being a non-for-profit business, some 23, 000 members-owners support the Co-Op. But why not let them introduce themselves and tell their story since 1973 via this visual aid.

Besides their support of the community as a grocery store destination, the Co-Op also takes part in community giving via donations and “Tokens for Tomorrow” by donating $.08 for every reusable shopping bag you use during your trip benefitting four charities.

Now in business for 50 years, the Skagit Food Co-Op has invited local business, including four local breweries to celebrate their 50th year.

After much discussion and several hours of brewing, and weeks of aging, the Skagit Valley Food Co-Op; in collaboration with breweries Farmstrong Brewing, District Brewing, North Sound Brewing, and Temperate Habits, are happy to release CoHop Anniversary Ale (India Pale Ale),

Sharing their thoughts on this unique collaboration release, the Co-Op had this to share.

Golden Jubilee – a fancy way to say we’re celebrating our 50th! And what better way to celebrate 50 years of cooperation than bringing together four local breweries to create a series of brews just for the Co-op? (We can’t think of one either.) The series is a collaboration between District, Farmstrong, North Sound, and Temperate Habits – a little co-hoperation, if you will – and we’re delighted to kick the series off with the release of our CoHop Anniversary Ale, and IPA. Brewed just a hop-skip from our beloved Co-op, the CoHop is a nod to the magic of working together to offer our community something delicious, like the Co-op does, and has done since 1973. …because we all get by with a little hop from our friends.

Besides thoughts, the brewers and the Co-Op have shared this beer was made with Skagit Valley Malting Opera Pale barley Malt, Crystal Malt from Vancouver (Washington) maltster Great Western, Vienna Malt from Germany’s Bamberg region. Along with this the brewery and Co-Op selected hops Calypso and Experimental Hops 17701 from Yakima’s Hopsteiner.

Now available in 12-ounce six-packs and on draft at all four breweries, along with Skagit Valley Food Coop, stop by the following locations to get your hands on CoHop Anniversary Ale, celebrating the Skagit Valley Co-Op’s support of local business for 50 years.
